SUMMER IS OFFICIALLY HERE!

Hopefully we all get to be Out Of Office to rest, build memories, and experience the joy of turning up the Beach Boys while cruising. But how can we make the most of our time in our careers during this time of year? Here are a few tips…
– Set realistic goals and celebrate successes.
Prioritize the most important things you need to get done each chunk of the day, week, and month being cognizant of time away and what’s really possible. Make sure to remind yourself of the wins along the way!
– Take charge of projects yourself.
Many of your colleagues, partners, and stakeholders will be in and out of the office during this time of year. Don’t expect them to have the same sense of urgency on something you are working on- it may not be as high of a priority given what they have on their plate.
– Communication is paramount.
Make sure that those you are working with are aware of the status of projects and are aware of the times you will be away so that they don’t get caught off guard.
– Enjoy your time away!
Live in those moments and make sure to tune out work as much as possible. Last year I went on an extended vacation due to my wedding & honeymoon. I can point to the fact that our team managed everything with minimal need to pull me into work matters during that time. I remained accessible in small stints and dealt with a few big ticket items, but I love that I can look back on that time knowing that work didn’t steal that joy!
