VP, Director of Operations

Compensation: $185,000 – $220,000 base + comprehensive executive benefits

I am currently partnering with a premier, value-driven commercial general contractor in the Greater New Orleans area, to identify a dynamic VP, Director of Operations.

Reporting directly to the President, this is a heavy-hitting executive seat. You will serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, translating corporate vision into operational reality and driving execution across all project management and field operations. If you are a seasoned construction executive who thrives on scaling teams, optimizing financial performance, and building a culture of extreme accountability, this is your next career move.

Key Areas of Impact

  • Executive Leadership & Strategy: Develop and execute company-wide operational strategies, annual business plans, and quarterly priorities in alignment with the President.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee all PM and Field Operations across every business unit. Establish rigorous standards for project execution, scheduling, quality, and safety performance.
  • Financial & Resource Ownership: Direct responsibility for company profitability, backlog health, forecasting accuracy, and resource utilization. Partner closely with Accounting to maximize financial visibility.
  • Talent Development: Mentor, lead, and build a robust succession plan for Business Unit Managers, Senior PMs, and the Director of Field Operations.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Break down silos by bridging operations with Estimating, Safety, HR, Accounting, and Business Development.

The ideal candidate brings a blend of tactical construction expertise and sophisticated corporate leadership acumen.

  • Experience: 15+ years of progressive commercial construction leadership, with a proven track record of managing large-scale operational organizations or multiple business units simultaneously.
  • Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of commercial construction financial reporting, forecast accuracy, risk mitigation, and margin management.
  • Tech Savvy: Strong proficiency with modern construction tech stacks, specifically Procore, Primavera P6, and Sage.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related business discipline is highly preferred.
  • Leadership Style: A transformational leader who balances high integrity with an ability to coach, build psychological trust, and drive continuous improvement (Lean/AI initiatives).
