Railroad Track Construction Superintendent – 2125549

On behalf of a railroad construction client who works across the South, we are looking for a dedicated superintendent to manage new track construction, industrial track work, and some track maintenance jobs in the Southeast.
Responsibilities:
- Train subordinates in their work tasks.
- Schedule jobs and crews daily to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Assist Foremen in planning jobs.
- Visit job sites to evaluate progress and observe crew productivity.
- Recognize, avoid and report potential hazards. Ensure corrective follow up measures to abate any identified hazards.
- Communicate and enforce all safety rules and regulations.
- Record either verbally or in writing all disciplinary actions and report them to the Area Manager.
- Work alongside the Area Manager in scheduling jobs and materials.
- Conduct and organize safety meetings (S.T.E.P.S.) and JSA Reviews.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment and ensure compliance of subordinates.
- Conduct and record at least 12 safety inspections per month including, but not limited to: Truck inspections, job site audits, tool inspections, and truck inspections.
- Oversee and verify crew time sheets, JSA’s and truck inspections to ensure accuracy.
- Coordinate delivery of equipment and materials to job sites.
- Be responsible as the senior Safety coordinator for the office.
- Conduct track inspections and submit detailed reports of findings to the Area Manager.
- Be responsible for maintaining daily communication with the Foreman on progress and needs for each job.
Job Type: on-site position, travel to jobsites required
Locations: Superintendent will report to the office in Saraland, Alabama as well as jobsites in Alabama and surrounding states
Experience Required: must have previous experience in railroad construction and maintenance.
Education Preferred, not Required: High School diploma or equivalent
Qualifications:
- Previous experience managing railroad track construction jobs in the field is required.
- Competent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate understanding of track specifications and guidelines.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of all track tools and small equipment.
- Ensure proper maintenance and repairs on all crew trucks.
- Supervise mobile crews to construct, alter, repair, maintain, and demolish railroad tracks and associated structures.
Other Requirements:
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have no more than three (3) moving violations in the most recent three (3) years.
- Have or obtain track inspector certification from an official source.
- Be able to pass Pre-Employment and random drug test.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Willing and able to travel to various job sites, including those that require overnight stays and those that require short notice mobilization.
- Able to respond to emergencies after hours, weekends or holidays.
- Responsibly handle expense monies when conducting company business.
- Capable of working in inclement weather and/or conditions.
