SUMMARY
The Network Security Manager oversees the configuration and maintenance of the network systems infrastructure (wired and wireless) that supports the day-to-day operations of our client. This individual is responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of the information network and all data contained therein.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage the facility’s networking systems to ensure proper function.
• Supervise the day-to-day operations of all wired and wireless networks throughout the facility.
• Implement, monitor, test, and verify network security systems as required to ensure safe and secure network operations.
• Configure and maintain network firewalls and access control lists on border routers to prevent network intrusions.
• Monitor and test Email systems to detect and prevent network infiltration. 25%
Assist the Lead Network Engineer with design and implementation of new facilities and upgrades/expansions of existing facilities.
• Research and evaluate network hardware for suitability based on requirements.
• Evaluate needs, determine requirements and provide proposals to accommodate the needs of the client’s departments and staff. 10%
Provide direct support to technology staff for network services.
• Perform custom configuration of network services.
• Monitor network performance and provides reports as required by management. 10%
Effectively supervise the delegation of assignments to ensure proper function of the Network and oversee the following functions:
• Performance of required maintenance and firmware upgrades on all network infrastructure devices.
• Create and review reports on network performance and operations.
• Create and maintain full infrastructure as-built documentation as needed. 15%
Provide support for network operations necessary for disaster recovery.
• Assist with the network operations of off-site facilities for data archiving, storage and access.
• Coordinate with Senior IT Systems Engineer and LAN Administrator to maintain and test failover operations in the event of a disaster 5%
ACCOUNTABILITIES FOR SUPERVISION
Participate in decisions related to the selection, promotion, transfer, pay and discipline of assigned personnel.
Orient employees to client’s policies and procedures, clearly communicate job duties and responsibilities so individuals may proceed with certainty in the performance of their positions.
Oversee training for new employees to ensure established procedures are clearly understood and followed.
Monitor the work performance of assigned personnel on a continual basis, conduct effective performance appraisals, and take corrective action whenever necessary.
Create a working climate in which assigned personnel are motivated to develop their skills and abilities and demonstrate by personal example the desired standards of conduct and work performance.
Administer client’s policies in a fair and equitable manner with regard to discipline, tardiness, absenteeism or insubordination and fully document all incidents and actions taken.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university (or equivalent experience); with four to six years related experience and/or training in mid to large scale networking environments. Minimum of two years’ experience in a supervisory level position preferred. Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP networks required as well as experience with Cisco routers and switches, firewalls, and high-density wireless systems. Working knowledge of Linux operating systems and administration, as well as Asterisk-based VoIP phone systems, preferred. CISSP and other network security certifications as well as ISP experience is a plus.
Other Qualifications
• In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN network topologies and deployment methodology.
• Hands-on supporting, monitoring, and updating routers, switches, firewalls, etc.
• Demonstratable experience in working with 100+ AP wireless network solutions.
• Working knowledge of Cisco Core and Edge switch environments.
• Comprehensive knowledge of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP and other common internet and intranet concepts.
• Ability to function as a team leader on installation and maintenance projects.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Must be able to work with hexadecimal, octal, and binary arithmetic. The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficiency/experience with computer operating systems such as Microsoft Windows and Linux as well as networking equipment operating systems such as Cisco IOS..
Other Skills and Abilities
Possess a diverse technical skill set as well as with excellent client service skills.
Prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiency, perform under minimal supervision and work extended/irregular hours as necessary including nights, weekends and holidays.
Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
