Water Resources Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Water Resources Engineer for one of our best clients in the Baton Rouge area. Our well established client protects Louisiana communities from flooding and delivers resilient infrastructure for private and public clients. This role drives hydrologic design, flood mitigation, and drainage solutions that keep people safe and projects on schedule. You will turn complex water data into buildable plans that matter on the ground.

Performance Objectives

• Complete hydrologic and hydraulic models for 8–12 drainage and flood-mitigation projects annually, meeting FEMA and LDNR standards with zero major rework.
• Produce construction-ready plans, specs, and cost estimates that keep 90% of water-resources projects within budget and on the original timeline.
• Lead field assessments and data collection after storms so mitigation recommendations reach clients within 10 business days.
• Secure necessary permits and agency approvals for at least 80% of assigned projects on the first submittal cycle.
• Mentor junior staff on HEC-RAS, SWMM, and GIS workflows so the team delivers 20% more modeling capacity within 12 months.
• Present findings to clients and parish officials that result in funded implementation of at least three high-impact flood-reduction measures per year.

Environment & Resources

You report to the Civil Engineering Principal and work with surveyors, structural engineers, and landscape architects in our Port Vincent office. You have access to current modeling software, drone and survey data, and a project budget that supports field work and agency coordination across Louisiana.

Essential Qualifications

• PE license in Louisiana (or ability to obtain within 6 months) plus 4+ years designing drainage, stormwater, or flood-mitigation systems.
• Proven delivery of HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or SWMM models that have been accepted by FEMA or state agencies.
• Track record of producing stamped plans and specifications that contractors have built without major water-related change orders.
• Experience coordinating with parish, state, and federal reviewers on permitting and hazard-mitigation grants.
• Ability to work in the field after storms and translate raw data into clear, actionable reports.
